Ji guys, well my dad if finally giving up his corvette to me. Hes more of a new car guy. Anyways, last winter I replaced all the interior and now that it is mine I plan on doing a lot more over the next ten - lifetime years. I plan on replacing the crappy 305 engine some body switched and no its not a california model. Painting the entire thing, I am also contemplating a complete teardown. Do you guys have a list of books you could suggest. I've go a few one on A/C for corvettes, the factory build book, a painting book, and a reapir book. Is there any books on a complete tear down youcan suggest. I also have books on chevy small block, and transmissions. I'm looking mainly for the frame up kinda thing.

Thanks
Cel

Congrats on the ownership of the Vette! Sounds like were already pretty delved into her, though. But hey, now you can say "I own a Corvette" ;)

Congrats on getting the 1980 :D If your Corvette is a 4-speed, you might want to do a bit of invesigation ;) As I recall when I ordered my 1980 ... getting the 4-speed ... the only option was the 305 or 302 it's been so long ago I don't remember exactly which one, but for some odd reason I think it was a 302 ;) guess I could go to the Tech Center at the top, then to the Model Center and plug in 1980.. Either way, nice to hear you got you're own Corvette :D

Mine is a 3 speed automatic, and the motor is a 305 from a buick I believe. Either way its coming out, is it tricky to swicth from automatic to standard?

Changing to a stick is a fair amount of work and will cost some bucks but if you just have to have one , I sure understand . It is doable and if your going to have the engine out , that's the best time to do it . Look through the Corvette parts suppliers like Mid America (one of our sponsors here ) and Eklers for books on restoration . If you don't get their catalogs yet , go online and sign up for then . They'll send them to you . And send them and send them and sen........ Hey Stallion , the Chevy 302 was before your time ! LOL . But it was a screaming little smallblock used in the late 60's Z-28's . I don't remember them being put in anything else though . I could be wrong about that . The Ford 302 came in a couple of versions . The Boss 302 was kina fast but no match for the chevy . Cliff

I've been getting Ecklers, Midamerica, and Zip catalogs for years now. I see they have a few differnet books, my problem is I'm not sure what one's are worth the money or if they are all good.
