'72 Targa Blue Coupe
Yippee! I just traded my '72 Chevelle SS for an 83,000 mile Targa Blue coupe, 200hp 350, auto, p/s, p/b, p/w and 3.08 rear gear.

It has all documentation including window sticker, P-O-P and the tank sticker, and owners manual with the trim ring instructions, too. This car is unique in that it was special ordered with the red vinyl interior. The cowl tag is correct: 407 TRIM, 979 PAINT.

Can anyone tell me how many cars were sold in this combination? How special is it? It is VERY special to ME-it's my first Corvette! Woo-hoo!

CONGRATULATIONS! It's a great feeling!

I can't answer your questions - but someone will be along soon to help out I'm sure. In the meantime, go to the top of the page and click on Tech Center, then on model center. There should be some info in there that can help you to start narrowing it down.

Semper Fidelis,
Culprit

Congrats!

Feels good, doesn't it?
How was that first ride?
Tell us how many times you peek into the garage at it during the first week. :D

But Rick, where's the car? You forgot to include the year of manufacture. :L

Ken, Ken, Ken :eyerole, you C4 guys are too funny. Just kidding old buddy, but it must be a 72 since Targa (and Bryar for that matter) are both exclusive to 72:D.

Oh, and congrats Rick!:upthumbs

Thanks for the support. Just changed the headlights from standard bulbs to halogen. Lost a headlight shroud screw (the machined one above the bulbs) and went nuts looking everywhere with various magnetic devices down every possible avenue. Of course, it's still missing. Found an acceptable replacement, but wondering about a good source for the 'right stuff'?

GM did not keep records on combinations of options- contrary to the urban legends that circulate. There were a total of 969 coupes built with the 407 red interior, and a total of 2382 coupes painted 979 blue. How many blue coupes were built with a red interior is anybody's guess, but very few as this was a non-standard combination.

Sounds like a nice car.
