I have a 78 Corvette 350 and here lately I have been having a gasoline smell in the garage and I thought at first that it might the lawn mower or the gas can but when I backed the Corvette out and let it sit all day the odor was gone so I put down some white paper under it to see if I could see any leaks anywhere and didn't see anything so I pulled the breather and looked down into the carburator and around the intake to see if I could see any pools of gas and didn't see anything, I even took it to the shop and let a mechanic look for anything and they didn't find anything either so what do I do now.Any suggestions would be helpful.

I'd be checking/inspecting the evaporative emissions control system to see if it's leaking gasoline vapor or the charcoal canister is cracked/leaking gasoline vapor.

It's difficult to see/inspect the vapor hoses where they go into the fuel tank. Sometimes you can see them with an inspection mirror.

Also, you may want to inspect the tank filler neck to make sure it's not cracked.

Thanks Hib I never thought about those things I will check the and let you what I find a may be a week or so before I can get to it again thanks.
