Mic your car sound so MEAN!!!:D

wait till the 388 roller goes in with a big cam! seriously thinking about solid lifter cam. if not a big hydro roller :D

when i do that i'm getting the quietest mufflers you can find and adding true duals with H pipe with electric dumps right passed the headers. :upthumbs

talking about a ricer suprise! :L

Mic,

Was that a C4 you passed up on the last segment? The car in front of the pickup truck.

If it was, you should've turned around and see if he wanted some!:L

Mic -
IMHO, unless you are sure you can overcome the inherent oiling problems with the roller solid lifters, you are probably better off with roller hydraulic lifters.

thought about it long and hard last night. i'm gonna stay hydraulic roller for now on the vette and do a solid roller 400 sbc for the 82 Z/28 with M6

From what I hear, a few companies are trying to solve the roller oiling problem for the solids. Maybe by the time you're ready to do the 400 someone will have a solution. If not, just keep the RPM's up!
Good luck on the project(s).

thanks Terry!

Got some questions for ya Mic. Where did you get the D LT1 tips? The madvet site only has C5's & C6's, that I can see. Also. what brand heads care you running? And headers? Can't find ANY brand w/ "1 3/4" primaries. Last, whats between the headers and muffler eliminators, besides an "h" or "y" pipe? Free flowing cats? I don't intend to clone your setup, but buying the right stuff once is naturally my objective. Howerer doing it w/an L98 Vette is tougher than building the 353 I had in a '72 Nova SS I built a few yrs. ago, that is now vresting in a '92 S10, coupled to a 700R4, w/the shortened Nova rearend and 4:11's in it. It is almost ready to test & tune. Thanks for any info you supply. Not to forget, your Vette is awesome.

thanks for the kind words on my vette! this has been 3 years in the making. first year all i did was research and see who was doing what with L98's and who was going fast. i took thier information and incorporated it into mine. i'm old school like you. my tuning comes from reading plugs, playing with gaps, playing with timing, and adding parts i know that will enhance the performance. i still want to learn how to burn my own chips some day but until then i'll be a parts changer :D

i run TPiS long tube headers with a front Y pipe. personally i like these best as i've looked at the hedmans and hookers and both of them run a 2 1/2" collector and 1 5/8" primary. TPiS are alittle more expensive as they come with the front Y pipe. the hookers and hedmans don't. also the TPiS headers come with 1 3/4" primaries and 3" collectors and 3" into 3" Ypipe that is a direct bolt on to your stock cat location.

for the exhaust i chose these.

First of all, thank you so much for taking the time to read and answer my questions. I appreciate it greatly since I am a novice at TPI engines. Looking over your pages, and many mods has helped me make a few decisions on where to start, at least (and we all know there is no stopping point). So I will keep you and the forum members posted as I slowly transform my 89 ragtop into a 12 sec. car, eventually. Thanks again mic.

Mine are on order. How is the sound on the highway?
Thanks Don
only drove it one day because she's still in the paint shop but i'm getting ready to pick her up in about an hour :D

going from dumps off the rear Y pipe the noise would bounce off the road and back into the cockpit but now since they are directed horizontally off the back of the car it's alot quieter in the cockpit. i can actually talk and hear on my cell phone with out letting off the gas :L i'm sure my lady friends will like it better now also :D
