Well, if you read my other thread, you know that when BABY was at a car show on Sunday, she sustained paint blistering on the hood from the reflection off the chrome air cleaner cover.

After discovering the damage during the show, I was so upset that my wife and I decided to just leave and go home around 2:30 pm (show ended at 5pm)

I just happened to speak to a fellow local Vette club member on a recommndation of a paint shop who was also at the show on Sun. When they were awarding the trophies at the end of the show they asked where we were. He explained we were so upset from the damage to the car that we left. Turns out we had won Best of Show with BABY and the trophy was a 4 foot high beautiful piece of work! Because we had left, the car that was supposed to have been runner-up they awarded Best of Show and gave them the trophy that belonged to BABY!!
:)

Talk about making me feel even worst. Only my second car show and I would have had a Best of Show award. It was a relatively small show but it still would have made me feel good getting the award and poor BABY has had such bad luck she deserved it also.

I told my friend that if this ever happens again, DON'T tell me I had won something!

yes, actually, there IS a dark cloud above me. We are having a major thunderstorm here :L

bad things happen in threes and you are at your limit ;LOL I guess the weather we had at Cruise-fest is moving east, it doesn't last long then the sky will clear.

Hey Barry,

You don't have bad luck...you just have bad timing!!

Had you gone to an evening car show you would have never had the "sun"
incident, and had you stayed a little while longer, you would have taken the trophy home.

Your "timing" is bound to change soon.

Do you have a lottery in your state?

If you do, you should go play it.
There's gotta be a silver (or gold) lining in that cloud buddy.

I bet it will be awhile before you take your ball and bat and go home before the game is over.
and best of show too, not some crappy trophy, the good one.
the best of show and peoples choice are the two holy grails as far as i'm concerned.it would have really validated the work you put into it.
oh well, you'll just have to put sunglasses on the chrome and go for it again.

Pedro

seems I have both bad luck AND timing.
but i'm TRYING to make myself think that it HAS to start to get better. how much worst can it get??
LOL

Sherry

that's what i'm hoping - that not too much more could go wrong and my luck has to improve

that's the truth!!
After what happened I don't think i'm leaving a show early again. I guess I should have stayed since at that point the damage to the paint was already done but my wife and I were so upset plus it was VERY, VERY hot and humid that we just figured to cut out and go home. We only went to the show for fun (and believe me, when we saw the paint damage the fun ended real fast) and never in our wildest imagination did we figure we would actually win a trophy, let alone a Best of Show.
oh well, live and learn.
