I am replacing my 14" K&N filter top lid with one that has a red ring instead of blue. Plus my blue one has a dimple in the upper surface.

New they are like $70.

Anybody interested in my old one for $20 plus shipping? It will replace the lid on any 14" style air cleaner even if you don't have a K&N filter to begin with. It is the same one as you see in this picture below.

Chris,

I'll take that off your hands! How do you want to get paid? Paypal? or whatever. Send me instructions at my e-mail address. Thanks!

If you change your mind Gerry, I'll take it Chris...

Chris How tall is that filter? I need one but I'm not sure if it will fit under my hood. The one I have now is only about 2 inches X 14 paper and I don't think it allows enough air for my 454..

You have mail. Just remember, it does have a dimple in one side, so it is not in perfect condition.

The filter lid is really no taller than a standard chrome lid. Plus, if you call Summit, or the local hot rod store you can inquire about a deep drop down base. This should let you step up to a 3" deep filter and topping it off with a filter lid is icing on the cake for letting the motor breath. It is really a fantastic design and why it was not thought of 20 years ago is beyond me.

I am sure you rat motor is choking on 2" of paper filter.

When my car is running with that L88 hood, and the hood is closed, it sounds like a hoover vacuum cleaner has been placed on my windshield and turned on high. So no doubt there is a lot of breathing going on. Remember too, my intake manifold is an extreme high rise Air Gap series from Edelbrock so that is why I need the extra hood.

I think it is too. I never thought about dropping the base. I'm running a low rise manifold with a Holley avenger 770 and with the 2 inch air cleaner I don't have much room to spear. My hood is the taller hood for the 454 in 73 but I don't think it is as tall as the earlier ones? I get a little rough spot when I really hit the gas and I think it is lack of air.

I will call summit and see if they can help me out with both parts.

Makes The Difference

I have the Victor Jr. high rise on my SB which is why I had to go with the L88 scoop. As a result, I put the drop base bottom on the 700 dbl. pumper which allows me to use a 4" high x 14" K&N air filter and the K&N lid that Chris is selling here. Low flying ducks BEWARE!!!;)
