I know there are many K&N threads here.
I recently installed one in my '84 and when I started it up, on came the check engine light. It is throwing a code 42. EST.
I called a friend of mine who has a '99 and was telling him about it and he said the same thing happened to him. New K&N, light came on. He said he put the old filter back and off went the light.
I haven't put the old filter back because it was totally clogged when I bought the car.
Is the K&N confusing the ECM by allowing more air than it is calibrated for??
Wondering
