Keeping headlights up

Bear with me, I'm not as mechanically inclined as most of you. I have an 84 vette that unfortunelty I don't get to keep in a garage. Because I occasionally have to drive it to work in the winter I want to figure out how I can raise the headlights and keep them up while still being able to turn the lights off and on.

While it might not look pretty, it will avoid problems with ice and snow that could damage the gears.

Has anyone ever done this? I'm hoping there's a connection I can easily disconnect but at first glance nothing jumped out at me.

Thanks for you help,
DAVE

Raise the head lights and open the hood. In each front corner there are two sets of wires that come down from the head lights. One is for the head light motor, the other is for the light bulbs. Follow the one from the motor down ( I believe it is the one with three wires) and unplug the weatherpack connector just inside the fender well above the overflow bottle on the passenger side. The driver side is the same, but over the black cannister and headlight relay box. Your headlights will forever be up until you plug them back up. I would also go the the auto parts store and get com connector grease and apply it to both ends of the connectors to insure that no water gets into them and messes up the connector. On the 88 and later C4's there is only one plug and you have to remove wires from the connector to disconnect the head light motors from the switch.

Thanks, if I get home before dark I'll take a look tonight

You take a pry bar and kick the sh*t out of the head lights. After you pry them open you take a 10 x 10 lug and shaw it between the headlight bezel and the hood. The lights will be in the open position for ever... You may also consider welding the bezel and the hood! I recommend using MIG welding with some very strong weld seams. Tell me which method you choose dude :))))
