I lost FOB 1. FOB 2 is unprogrammed. I tried to follow the procedure in the manual for programming a black FOB and it does not work. The alarm goes off when I open the trunk. I have tried every possible option. In reverse, in neutral, reset battery, waited till alarm light went off on dash, nothing. I turn the key 5 times an the DIC says nothing. Help, having bad day.

Need to move car in other garage so I can install my heads :)

Just a quick thought, did you install the fob into the pocket, as both fobs should have been programmed at the factory??? Once you are switched on, the alarm should deactivate.
Not a flame, just curious, c4c5

Both the original fobs went bad. I dunno how I guess I was standing in some solar wind. GM got me a new #1 and the #2 was on back order. #2 came in and we had some nasty weather so I was going to program it when the ice storm was over. That's when I lost #1. So, I had a blank #2 and a missing #1.

I did put the blank #2 in the pocket as instructed in the owners manual for programming a blank fob.

Somebody gave my fob to a guy with a C5. I have the only C6 in the reasonable vicinity and he got it back to me. What a great guy!

Still don't know why my car will not take a program. The battery is out right now during a head swap. Tonight I will put it back and try to program using a good fob and see what happens. I need to do this before I lose #1 again. I'm glad you are around to remind me of stuff like this and to tell me to take the bloody syncromesh out of the tranny :)
