Help! Keyless Entry

The second remote for my car has stop working, it will not reprogram using the lock-unlock 7 second hold. I replaced the battery. Reporgraming would hold for less than a day and had to be redone, now it won't reprogram at all. If I buy a new remote and I have found plenty of other threads on this site with possible suppliers. Is there anything special I need to do to sink the new remote to the car? Thank you for your help. Tom

there was a thread here??which described the same issue.
the cause was a bad solder joint. take a look at the circuit board with a loupe and you may find corrosion or a bad joint.
also the sync procedure is also available here/online and maybe in your manual.

Syncing is a breeze, but you will need to sync both remotes, not just the new one. Takes half a minute or so. Details are in the owners manual. I had to do that a couple of months ago.

JJ2k: Are you saying that if I have only one remote now, that may be the problem? I have had only one working remote for a couple of years, one quick working years ago. Not even sure where it is. When the second stopped working I replace the battery, resynced now it doesn't. Problem is I have to have two remotes to sync properly? Tom

No, that's not what I meant. I was just saying you would have to sync any remote you have, not just a single one. If all you have is one, then that's all you would sync. I had two remotes, one went bad, replaced the battery, resync'd it, it would last for a day or so, and then go bad again. Wound up replacing it. Both work fine now.
