I've replaced the coolant after flushing the system. I may have made a mistake when installing the knock sensor, I added sealant to the threads but this may insulate the sensor from the engine. Any help would be appreciated.

Good thinkin'... It could well affect the sensitivity.

Don't know the right answer, but if you have scan/log data, I think you might be able to compare retard readings for left and right KS.

OR, you can tap the block 3 or 4 times with a screwdriver right next to the KS, and see if the reaction is identical for each side (motor should stumble).

pns0ccc,

FYI: My FSM states "Do not apply thread sealant to the sensor threads."

I do not know the consequences of applying the sealant to the threads. Perhaps someone here has the answer to that question.

FYI - 1 1/2 gallon of fluid drained when I removed the sensor (so cket) 7/8this morning, cleaned threads and connector. Torqued sensor to 15 ft lb. Either the sealant on the sensor threads or I did not have the connector completely on caused the engine to run rough and knock slightly. Runs smooth, no knocking now.
