After draining the coolant thru the knock sensor holes, is it necessary to
use a SEALANT of some sort on the sensors when re-inserting them
back into position? Thanks

The KSes and the thread in the block are a tapered, pipe-thread. As long as the threads are not damaged, they'll seal once you tighten the sensors.

Getting the threads clean is important. Spic and span spotless clean. Runs some more water into the system, let it drain through the hole again, and as it drains, screw the sensor in and out of the hole finger tight a few times to clean the threads.

Also if the K/S is dropped its junk and must be replaced. I believe torque is 18 ftlbs and do not use an impact gun.
