L98 Cam suggestions?

is there a way I can obtain that "choppy" sound through something else? If not can I get a cam/lifters for my L98?

Sure, you can switch a few spark plug wires around!:D

Ask your buddy what else he did to the L98 other than "camming" it. If he says nothing take a ride in his car. You just may :puke

thanks WhalePirot
YW

The sound you "want" comes from a cam that is not suitable for your needs
Not sure I agree, based upon my car. I'd post a sound clip, were the recording quality better, that might light his fire from idle to 6300 rpm. The idle is choppy, like any self-respecting hot rod would have, with some wandering idle rpm. as the computer, even with custom chip, says WTF?

It didn't happen with just a cam though.:w

But look what you have to go with the cam; heads / intake / displacement

He "wants" your cam's sound on a stock TPI engine that peaks under 5k

What guys who "want" that lumpy idle sound don't realise is that the guys who have it, did not install a cam to get that " sound" .

The sound is a by-product of the cam specifications required (long duration / valve overlap ) to run a engine at higher revs ; valve being open longer

For someone thats just got their heart set on some low speed or idle rumble...I'd advise them to install muff-eliminators or some Borla straight pipes. What they do not understand is the complexity of that sound they think they want...Most would say there is something wrong with their car when the vac was so low at idle that it stalled or would'nt pull the a/c compressor..! Cams can't be all things to all people ;)
