Hello everyone, I have a 93 coupe and I have decided to install the fan override switch. While I am in the vicinity of the dashboard I thought I would look for this annoying noise. It sounds like a crickett on steroids. It appears to be coming from the stering coloum area but I am not sure . Has anyone ever had this problem? It is louder on colder days. I also need help on wiring the switch, which wire goes where on the switch itself. I seen the thread as to which wires to tap into and where to penterate through the fire but I am lost from there.

Thanks,
Spinout 93 :confused `

Welcome to :CAC . I have no squeaks in mine (though the tires seem to chirp once in awhile) so can't help you there.

Thank You. I never knew tires could chirp.

:s Oh, they'll chirp alright! Now if I could just figure out why the rear ones wear down so much faster than the fronts...

I get it now. I should know this since my username represents a rather large chirping noise.Thanks.

I had a similar noise coming from that same area. I finally tracked it down to the clear plastic lens that covers all the gauges. It was rubbing against the black plastic gauge housing. Until I get around to taking the dash apart, I just inserted a small piece of rubber insulation between them. No more squeak!

The only thing that comes to mind that has that sound is the old speedometer cable on a cold day?? ;shrug

Like Wraddad said - I had that noise too - solved it with a piece of electrical tape folded over on itself and slid between the clear gauge cover an the black dash piece. Mine was over the tach area. Really only heard the noise on cold days.

I missed it, where do you go through the firewall? Could you post the link? Thanks and welcome :w
