Larry, I'm sorry I forgot to congratulate you on the achievement of finishing the car and getting it to Carlisle. Unbelieveable how fast you did that car and did it right. I know you have very high standards. I'm sure your family is proud of you too. It is a great example to your kids that you set your mind to something and worked to achieve your goal. Nice your family is there to share that with you. Enjoy the rest of the show!

A sincere Thank You. This car fought me tooth and nail right up to us loading it on the trailer on Tuesday afternoon at 4:30 pm

I have to say there is NO WAY I could have done this car with out the support of the CAC members. Every step of the way I knew I had an army behind to help me thru the hard times. (Cant put it in words But I am sure anybody that has worked on a car knows what I mean)

As for the quaility ..................................

Well I kind of put that aside in the last 2 weeks or so in order to keep with goal making the show. All though I still have another 2 weeks or so to get my doors alighned and my a/c lines connected and my windsheild wipers completed. I did what I wanted to do and that was to drive into the show feild and display it.

I can also tell you with out the support of my wife and kids it also would be an imposibility. As I was finishing up the car on tuesday,No door panels,no kick panels, wiring the a/c,clock, My daughter was taping the door wiring harness,As I was installing the door panels,my wife was vacuming the carpets and cleaning the grease pencils lines off of the seats from when they were built,My son was cleaning the winsheild, and my brother was correcting a problem with the right marker lamp. Allthough the uphulstry guy worked saturday and sunday for me.I did not get the car back untill Monday afternoon around 4;30 pm I worked untill 2:30 am on Monday night. Originally I wanted the car on the trailer and ready to go on tuesday morning.

So yes I am happy, and also relived to have been able to do it.

My biggest embarresment was my air cleaner sticking thru the hood. But the folks from the cac understood why it was like that

regardless of how much more work you still need on your car it was a great pleasure seeing it there and it was a work of art. You created and built a gorgeous car and one that you should be extremely proud of. seeing you take that lap around the field during the celeberty choice lap was wonderful.
You car looked great and finally meeting you in person and getting to shake your hand after all this time talking to you on here was great - meeting people from here was 85% of the reason Linda and I went to Carlisle this year.
Congrats on the great job on the car and being able to bring it to this years Carlisle show. :beer

Larry,

So nice to meet you, and thanks for coming by. I am so sorry I did not get a change to see your car, but I think you understand why, I spent the entire week end focused on one thing.,,,, getting first place. NEXT year...I promise, but again MANY THANKS for coming by and meeting me and Meg....and looking at the 63...

Larry....Enjoyed meeting you and seeing your Corvette..

Excellant craftmanship..!!! The attention to detail regaurding the small items is what it's all about. You hit the mark there. The build.... even though not totally complete is very impressive.... Truly a job well done....

Larry, it was a pleasure meeting you (finally), and your car is simply stunning; after seeing your posts last week about probably having to bring it with towels over foam for seats, I was amazed to see it all decked out - it's a tribute to your craftsmanship and perseverance!

Larry,

I have to admit thoose are some of the most comfortable seats I ever sat in.

Thanks again every one for the comments and engouragement. As I said this was the best trip ever for me.

Dennis Midyear gave me a suggestion on installing a exspantion tank from a small block midyear and its on it way from paragon. Deinnis aslo explained how to loosen the shifts on the tranny And I was able to do that also. Driving from the show feild to the hotel on saturday in the rain was an exciting ride.as even in the traffic going slow every time the car shifted it was snapping the back end out on me.

The rain on Friday night (Ithink) was the first official wash the car ever had Yesterday I washed the car and dehydrated it (not a good idea to open the cowl vent while driving in the rain).Adjusted my drivers door.

I did get an excellent idea on how to enclose my air cleaner and will get started on that this week end so I will post pictures of my progress, this is going to be trick and should be un-noticeable to the average person.

I hope we are able to get some new members from that show as the guys from SR111 sent up some prospective customers to see an almost finished car and I suggested they join our forum as there are a couple of member with these cars in progress,I also met some folks with a convertion frame in progress and invited them. One fellow said he never heard of CAC before this show (he is a member of the corvette forum ) and was going to check us out as he had seen 67heavens sign on his car.

I had also met a fellow at my hotel who had a couple of midyears,I suggested he join our forum. He then explained as politely as he could.

"He doesnt have time for that sillyness"

then thru our conversation I had found out he spent days trying to get his tranny to slide back into the pilot bearing untill some one finally told him to depress the clutch.

He spent weeks waiting on parts because he replaced the rear spring on his car and cracked the case cover tightening it up.Only to find out now he still has the wrong spring in the car.

He is still trying to get his car timed properly as doing by the recomended gm sug gestion leaves the car feeling slugish.

I pointed out all of the things he just metioned I went thu myself but with the help of the forum I was better prepaired and got right thru them in hours not days .I re-explained the forum is not a time waster its a time saver.I hope he joins and use's the forum to its full potential.

Again thanks everyone for the support

Larry,

Great seeing you again in Carlisle. You've done a fantastic job on the car and it was great to see your work in person and the well deserved recognition of a Celebrity Pick. :upthumbs Now you can relax a bit and enjoy working out those final details.

Larry,

I really enjoyed looking at the results of your hard work and craftsmanship. To accomplish all that in such a short time period is amazing.

By the way, the M-Yellow looks perfectly at home on your car. Outstanding!

I delayed in posting this trying to find the words to describe how it felt meeting you in person, but then, you said it best in another thread....

IH2LOSE said:
But I do have to say meeting the bunch from the CAC is like meeting your best buddy for lunch. You just know so much about each other and their car. It's very hard to describe and I sincerely mean it. I am truly lucky to have so many friends with so much in common.

Amen, brother.

I'd love the chance to go cruisin' with you in that beautiful car with the top down and the "big smiles on our dials". :D :D

Bob thank you and next year we have to do things a little different. We never planned for the group photo whitch I forgot about untill I was driving home re thinking the trip.

And you guys should have followed me home to our hotel as each time me and my daughter left we got to spend hours (lost) driving around the corn feilds trying to find our way back to the hotel.

Saturday night I went back to hershey for a concert.

Next year I am planning nothing but sitting in my car show chair and shooting the breeze with my fellow vette owners. See you there

This is the link to the first post I made about the car. This was the day after I picked it up last year.

I am sure most of you guys thought I was nuts.

This is my reply to Barryk question on the timetable for the build

Barry

This project is on the fast pace.As crazy as it seems I plan on driving this to Corvettes of carlilse next year.So that means it will be done a while prior so I can shake out the bugs. You have to remember I have been planning this for a couple of years.Allthough following John Magraws project has caused me to make several changes (all adding time and money I should also add quaility ) And I have had several stumbling blocks (like the media blaster the car was going to is no longer there.all the cars still in his yard but the place is closed up) I can go on but I wont I just have to stay the course. You know I have a lot of freinds and neighbors look at the car and think I am crazy But It will really go fast as long as I am working on it

Thanks again
Lary
