I am new to the Corvette world and was wondering what it would mean if the last 6 of my VIN # is 108136? I read it's the production number but didn't think they would produce 108,136 vette's in 96. Any advice is appreciated

VIN Decoder - CorvetteForum - Chevrolet Corvette Forum Discussion

Should help you.

Also the Corvette Black Book by Mike Antonick is a great source of info.

1996 :
There were 21,536 Corvettes made :
17,167 Coupes

4,369 Roadsters

'96 is a little unusual as regular production #'s last 6 were 100001 - 120536

The Grandsport Z16 had its own VIN's

600001 - 601000

This was similar to the 1990 - 1995 ZR-1's which had there own VIN's.

GM put out an order stopping separate VIN's for special editions, due to confusion amongst plant employees.
This practice was returned in production year 2009.
The Corvette Black Book will explain it a little better than I.
