The right rear of my 91 convertible L-98 w/27k mi. is leaning by an inch more than the left rear, it is quite noticable from behind... what can I look for as the cause of this? Thanks.;shrug

If the car hasn't been involved in an accident, I would say check wheel alignment (4 wheel alignment)

as these cars get older we are finding more of this .if you hadnt done any work on the reaer of the car lately, you are most likely need to get a new rear spring . ck for any cracks in the spring. no worries as its an easy job to replace the rear spring and this would be the perfect time to upgrade to one of the great aftermarket setups .

Lots of folks get all worked up about having the same number of threads exposed under the spring bolt nuts.... don't fall into that trap and try this....

Tighten the spring bolt on the low side a couple of turns and see if it starts to level out. If it does over the course of a couple of days keep going up on the spring nut.

The reason I suggest taking a couple of days is in my experience it takes a day or so for the suspension to settle after being lifted so if you level the car out in one shot, the odds are good that next week the other side will be the low side.
The good news is adjusting the bolts is really simple and can be performed without jacking the car up. Mike

You could have shocks wearing unevenly, worn rubber throughout the rear end.
As aboatguy said, the amount of threads showing on the spring bolts don't,and are rarely the same on both sides. The spring pressures are not exact on each side of the car,so one side might need more turns to even out with the other side. I lowered my c4 2 1/2 inches, theres a 1 inch difference in threads from the right side to the left, same with other c4s i worked on.

I'm not 100% sure what you mean by "leaning". What exactly is leaning, the body, the wheel, what? If it's the wheel, it's very common for the camber bolt to loosen over time, causing the wheel to appear crooked. As someone else pointed out, you need a rear end alignment if this is the case, and the rear camber bolt needs to be tightened to specifications, it's supposed to be torqued on there pretty hard.

Two turns of the transverse spring bolt on the low side did it, I did notice some rubber cracking too...Thank You all very much.
