For less than the cost of one new leather seatcover I was able to get both seats, the steering wheel (all white on the 35th anniv.mod) and the consol restored. The man who did the job comes to you, takes about a day (at least mine did) to do it... you have to remove the seats. He does the rest. Just like new? No, but check the pics. It's much much better that it was. PM me for more details.

Seats look nice...

I did mine 3 yrs ago with a local guy, picked my colors/materials and did it for 1/3 of what the kit cost to do sport leather. Although I used marine vinyl, I still came out ahead.

The white looks good:thumb

Interesting. So after you remove the seats he comes to you and he restores them?

2 questions...

By coming to you location - is this to pick them up or does he do the work onsite - in the back of a truck or on the ground or whatever?

By restoring - does he somehow replace torn/worn panels or does he cosmetically refinish worn/cracked leather finishes with some sort of new coating or whatever?

I answered your questions direct from my email...which is where I saw it. Not sure it was sent. Let me know if it hasn't shown up.

by restore what do you mean. the seats look like anniversary seats in good condition but not new... please more info
I was the 4th owner of my 35th anniv. Vett so I don't know what they looked like when new. However, for the price I paid and the looks of all the "restorer" was able to acomplish, I was well pleased. I'm attaching the pic. files showing the before and after of the driver's seat restoration. You should be able to view these on your computer as a much larger immage then judge for yourself.

looks like all he did was a good clean and maybe some touchup vinyl paint i hope you didnt pay too much

Is there some reason you don't name the vendor and specify the price he charged?

+1 too uh Huh...

Nothing showed up in my email, and I don't think anyone would mind if a few more details, including trhoa's answers, got posted on the boards here...

Charles- your seats looks a lot better than they did. And if you like the outcome and the price- well, nothing else matters.

Not sure if it really matters who the vendor is. Most of us probably don't live close enough for him to drive out to our locations anyway.
;) :chuckle

Let me chime in. I live near St. Louis, sent Mel a PM like he asked, and he has given me the guy's information concerning the seat restoration and has also given me a couple of things to look out for when I remove the seats. He also told me what he paid for the restoration. Couldn't be more helpful. I think his seats turned out great and I'll probably get mine done later this year.

What's the problem guys???:confused

There seems to be some reluctance on OP's part to make disclosures about what's been done here, even tho' he said "No..."

If it's a legitimate thing, post up details, such as has been asked. If the service person requests non-disclosure, then say so.

And no, we don't necessarily need all detail$$

Why the 'off-the-boards' secrecy? You know what they say about wildfowl, and the identifying sounds that they make ;)

Charlie, the seats look great and I am sure worth the cost of the work.
Often I see here when a vendor is in question it gets touchy due to the vendor not becoming a member or joining the vendor list.I would be reluctant to answer the question in an open forum as well.
Nice work dude :upthumbs

I could certainly understand if it was the vendor who made the first post. Clearly, that could or would be seen as self promotion and possibly an attempt to gain some free advertising.

In this case, and other cases like this, it was not the vendor who brought the subject to the attention of the readership, it was a happy customer. There's nothing wrong with doing that, and it can be of help to others or are considering doing the same operation and now will have more information with which to make a decision.

If the vendor does not want his identity disclosed or his pricing, that's also fine with but it certainly does detract from the value of the initial information - in fact, it makes it damned near worthless. Charlie just said that the vendor did not wish his identity be revealed on an open forum, most of us would have understood and that would have been that.

That was not the case here.
