man, as usual, you made another sweet creation! stock looking motor, which i like! any dyno runs yet on this motor Chris? i am very interested on what it dyno's thru a stock TPI system.

are you still running the 48 mm TB?

what cam grind are you running and rocker size?

we need Dyno Runs Bro! :beer

Actually, I am having MAJOR issues with the fuel injection. I am getting a stock chip for it this week from GM. This is to get a base line, and somewhere to go with -=Jeff=- doing a reprogram for me. Right now it has a ADS Strip Chip (out of business) and I have a hunch it is causing most of my problems.

Here are the basic specs:

383
2.02/1.60 valves on hogged out iron center bolt truck heads
flat tops forged pistons (speed pro)
1.6 full roller rockers (LT4 bowtie rockers)
Crane 2050 compucam see specs here: http://www.cranecams.com/master/apps/chevy5.htm
Hooker long tube headers
30# Accel injectors
BBK adjustable regulator
hogged out stock TPI and stock throttle body
stock ignition
ADS strip chip
2600 stall
3.07 gears
Stock TB
tock runners

Back when I first owned this car and first put the 383 in, I was running 13 flat on street tires, and full street weight and street pump gas. It ran a 1.7 60 foot (note on worn street tires!).

The car had 12s in it then, I just did not have the tire to pull it off. The mph was only around 104, as the TPI caused it to die after the 1/8 (ran 7 second 1/8 miles).

Right now it would not run a 14 due to serious tuning issues.

When I had it before I had smaller heads and a smaller cam and smaller injectors.

thats a pretty small cam. not much above stock grind. i'm sure you'll get it worked out and i can't wait till ya do! wanna see some dyno pulls :D when you get it tuned bro thats gonna be a beast! with the stock TPI i bet you have 500 lbs of torque and over 420 hp. ( at the crank) maybe you should siamese the runners and base and port the plenum to get the air moving up alittle higher? that thing is gonna be a stump puller :D

does it still have the D36?

It is a freshly rebuilt D36 with brand new bearings and posi unit. I had Luck7's81 build it for me. He did a real nice job.

I wish it was a 44..

yeah i'm gonna stick with that big fat 2.59 gear in mine and pray :)

hmmmm, of course you could stick something a little bit more interesting in there and....PREY!!!!! (on some mustangs) :D

Chris,
So a D36 works! Did you have any fat tires on it. I have Nitto 555 DR 315/35 on my D36 with a stock LT1 with the typical bolt-on mods. I am, however, building a D36 3.75 to swap in this winter. Maybe I'll be able to surpise Mic next spring at Capitol Raceway? Anyway, geez a D36 is small inside! But it will have all new bearings, clutch pack, an Ikerds HD cover and 6 solid UJs. Did you install a driveshaft strap?

Nope, no driveshaft strap.

I have some pretty wide tires on the car now, but not so sticky. It smokes them on a brake torque at 2000 RPM like they are not even connected to the ground!

I think you 36 will be just fine.

Since the 383 went in I pretend that there is a raw egg between my foot and the happy pedal. Thank goodness Dunlop is a sponsor. This is the only car I know that cost more in tires than it does in gas to drive.:D

hehehe looks like my header install is on hold until this damn snow shoves off and melts :( damn i was hoping to have them installed by next saturday for Cecil! i want to bust a 12.9x something before i do the cam swap with some other goodies :)

Rich are you listening? :D

Yeah, Mic, I'm listening... :(

Might have to dump the whole thing for a Forester XT... stock, it does 13.9 1/4 mi's. With some minor mods, it's in the 12's. AWD, so no traction issues, and it'll carry 5 in comfort. And it's a 4-cyl.

Nah...

I really like it. That's a great lookin vette and awesome performance.
