Ok...Here's the Deal.... If I am typing in Outlook express (An Email) and I do you your...ALT DOWN Type 248 Using the Right hand Numerical keys ..Release Alt Key... I will get the little Degree indication.

But... When I am in the Post Reply Screen on the Forum and do it ...It bounces me back out of post reply to the original post..... The moment I hit the 4 in 248.

Rittle Me That One Bat Man..????:L

The only other thing that might prevent you from obtaining the desired characters, would be the browser you are using to access the CAC. You are most probably using " Microsoft Explorer ", ( the most popular ) but each one of the Forum's can also be accessed using other browsers such as " Netscape " and " FireFox " from Mozilla. Each browser has it's own little querks, and although all of them should be able to give you access to identical functions, some vary with each application.

I am happy to hear however, that in the very least, you can punch in the additional characters using other applications. Now we know that you, and your keyboard are doing it right, but as it's not working out correctly, it's no fault of yours. Sorry I cannot be of more help. ;shrug

No Big Deal.... It's just a * thang..:L

Your "Num Lock" key has to be "on" (there's usually a light to show when it's on) in order to do the "Alt-248" trick. :)

John, you got me on that one. :ugh My PC set up to turn on the "num-lock" at startup, and I mistakenly though everyone was setup the same way.

If you cannot remember the codes, or want to see which other characters are available, go to: Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Character Map. This will bring up a table of the available "special" characters. From there you can "copy and paste" into the document you are working on. This is for Windows machines, obviously.

From My Laptop...windows 98.....But it ain't got no stingen ''DEGREE" MARK..!!

In spite of all this ASCII table stuff you guys are throwing around, I got to thinking about the timing numbers again. I pulled the specs off of Sallee's site http://www.sallee-chevrolet.com/ChevyBigBlockV8s/502hpek.html (bottom of page), but I remember it being more advance.

So, in the name of getting that '65 of yours mobile, I went out to the gee-rage and threw the timing light on it. It's set to 12° @ 900rpm (vacuum disconnected and plugged)........not 8°.

Sorry for the confusion......but I thought this was an oil filter thread? Or is it an ASCII thread? Or is it a timing thread?

Ah, Hell........I'll just go back to taking the bus.

Bob,

Where in God's name do you come up with the assorted photos you post ever once and a while.? This last one reminds me of me, standing in front of a mirror.:naughty:
