Thought it might be a good idea to let you all know that while my wife parked the car in a parking lot here in NJ she was given a ticket for an "unclear license plate". The tag had a black holder around it...that's it! Nothng blocked or unclear. We took pictures, she went to court to fight a $54.00 ticket, she beat it but, had to pay $33.00 in court cost. Is this fair? Are the states that hard up for money? Really pis**d in NJ. Be aware of what you have around your tag to avoid being a victim of this money making scheme!

Oh yeah, they're really hard on money now and they try to get you for everything that they can.

Some states don't allow for anything around the license plates. Friend of mine in MN got a ticket for that. She had the dealer frame around the plate. She moved from IL, where those frames are legal. She honestly didn't know!

I got a ticket in a parking lot for an expired registration sticker. I was wrong because I forgot that it had expired so I just paid the $25 ticket. But I think driving around in a parking lot while your car is parked at the train station goes to a new low for money.

Thats the way things have been done here in NYC for quite some time. You can even get a ticket if your registration sticker is peeling off your window and you tape it back on. Frames around the plates was a hot topic last summer.

Stopping real crime doesnt gerenate any revenue.

So, take it as the tax it is and deduct it on your tax return.

Yeah,the good part....or my part?!;LOL

You know...I understand there is a war going on and we need lots of money. I just wish we were taxed for it instead...I wouldn't mind that (others might not). Oh well...I'm over it.

Yep its all about money, I never could figure why you had to pay court costs if found innocent. I left NJ 11 years ago, everytime I go back it seems like more have moved in ;LOL

even in Ohio they are out for the money. I was coming back from Cleveland on the turnpike with a belly full of Coffee and having to P real bad since one of the rest stops was closed. I had just pulled into the right lane and slowed to about 65 to enter the rest area where there was a state Cop with his lights on he had no one pulled over and was in the car. Needless to say he wrote me up for "failure to yield to a emergency vehicle" I went to court (50 miles from home) and pleaded NG and was told I had to come back to see the DA. Went back again the DA offered me a "deal" I can either come back a third time for a hearing or plead guilty to 66 in a 65 a non points ticket. The court costs were more then the ticket.

Georgia fund raising campaigns

The latest trend amongst the traffic cops here is to perch a radar or lidar operator on I-75 overpass, preferably behind a sign so you can't see him, and clock people from behind. When they find a speeder the radar guy sends another speed cop from the row of 3 or 4 lined up near the on ramp to cite the speeder.

The thing is the whole setup is illegal under Georgia law, but most folks don't know it and just pay the ticket. In Tifton, Ga they have written over 800 tickets in a single 8 hour shift.

Here's why it's not legal.
1. The police car must be visible for 500 ft from BOTH lanes of traffic.

2. The guy that clocks you is supposed to be the one who writes you the ticket.

3. Before the ticket is written the officer is required to offer you the opportunity to see the radar display with the speed reading that he allegedly clocked you at. If he used a radar or lidar to clock you and he's cleared the display before letting you see it he can't legally cite you. That won't stop some of them from trying though.

If you want to know more, ask and I'll post a few other regs they have to comply with. You can also go to georgia.gov and look up the OCGA. Most of the speeding stuff is in chapter 40 if I remember correctly.

This is one of the things I like about Honolulu, you have to be a really bad driver for the cops to pull you over for anything. When I lived in the bay area, I hated driving down 280 because there were cops everywhere, they were as thick as thieves. And they would nab you if you went six miles over the speed limit, which in most places the judge would just throw out. Here in Honolulu, they had a couple of motorcycle cops by the airport yesterday, using radar and pulling speeders over, but they were only going after the people who were really flying.

Maybe it's not the money thing. Maybe the cop's ex wife got his Vette in the divorce or, maybe, her new boyfriend drives one! Or, it ****es off the meter reader cuz he can't afford one. Face it guys, from time to time we have all been the victim of someone with Corvette envy! Don't hate us cuz our carz is be-utiful!!:_rock :_rock

i've had a few of those! people passing me in the fast lane while i'm merging to the slow lane at 58 mph in a 55 mph zone and get cited for a 72 mph ticket. got PBJ (Probation before Judgement) which is basically stay clean on your driving for 1 year and it gets expunged off your record.
