Having read all of the threads re HID conversions, halogen upgrades and C5 headlamp performance, I have a question.

Has anyone upgraded the bulbs to offroad wattages, 9006 low beam from 55w to 80 w and 9005 hi beam from 65w to 100w?
Does this offer any improvement, and will the factory wiring harness
tolerate the additional load?

Seems to me that if the pattern of the stock reflectors is good, the
added wattage would be a good thing if nothing burns up.

I put SilverStars in mine, and it helped some. The C5 lights are very poor. It is my biggest complaint about my car. That is why I welcomed the exposed C6 lights.

Ditto!! I echo DRTH VTR's post. I also put the SilverStars in mine and it helped some, not a whole lot. Better than stock though.

As for the factory wiring harness holding up, I'd research that before I upped the wattage. Seems to me I read somewhere you really have to be carefull on the wattage. Check the site here though. I know there's a bunch of threads on C5 lighting.

i have been using zenon filled "hyper white" bulbs in the stock wattage. they seem to be a very good, less expensive option other than HID. i have in the past utilized the higher wattage bulbs but had issues with the added heat on sockets and wires. these bulbs are about $37-40 per pair. pep boys.

I saw a website for an HID kit that is brand new. Let me see if i can find the link and post it here.

Ive been using the PIAA lights and am very impressed.
Not as nice as HID, but pretty killen good for a fraction of the cost!

Same bulbs here, not so much brighter at all BUT much whiter.............

Hi guys,
Not to steal a thread, but what are the PIAA replacement numbers for the lo, hi and fogs. Just too lazy to look them up and the local stores never seem to have the code book around, not to mention, the kids working there only know import numbers.
Happy Holidays
Jeff

The T-84 Euro lights have a much better pattern than the stock lights. You can also use 90/135 watt bulbs if you make a new harness with relays. It really isn't that difficult.
