Voltage regulator? Driving home last night the headlights and dash lights started flashing. Voltage regulator problem or alternator? Any ideas? Thanks

was it losing power as well?
i would check the alternator/voltage regulator 1st.

Oddly enough it was not losing power. I started it yesterday and the gauge was steady and the lights were not flashing. I will start with testing the alternator. Thank you

Start with proper diagnosis. Make sure that the battery is good by having it tested with a carbon pile load tester, the battery cables are clean and tight, and then test for voltage drops to the alternator and regulator on the negative and positive sides of both circuits. If these all test good then it is probably a bad regulator.

Could be a loose ground on the forward lighting harness. Also check that the harness plugs are tight and not corroded.
