Location of MAT sensor

Could someone PLEASE tell me the location of the MAT sensor on my L98? The Haynes manual I have for my car shows it located beside the distributor cap. I looked last night and couldn't find it.

I may be wrong...but I believe it is under the plenum....that is why folks get the kit to move it from there where it gets hot to the intake out front where it is cooler....

You're correct - it's under the plenum, pretty much in the middle of the runners. I think I had to access it from the passenger side because there's a runner in front of it on the left. The problem is that the connector for the wire is back behind and below the distributor (or was on my car) and was a bear and a half to connect the relocation kit to.

Found it!

I was about to look under there last night but thought "nah, GM wouldn't be dumb enough to put a temp sesor there..."

So thats what that is plugged into the underside of the intake near the fuel pressure regulator. Now why would they put it there? With the relocation where is it mounted? And what do you do about the hole/old sensor?

Its not as hard to get to if you remove the distributor cap. I can get to mine easier from the drivers side. Well a little of all three sides.

Hardware store for threaded plug...remove sensor, replace with plug. Cut connector. Splice in wires to allow sensor to be placed in intake plastic in front of the MAF on top of the radiator. Kit includes a grommet. Or just RTV in place.

Most of the kits also include a new sensor, so you just leave the old one in place and connect the harness to the new one (which goes in a hole drilled into the intake just back of the filter).
