I am trying to locate a 1960 Corvette Convertible that I sold in either 1989 or 1990. After nearly 25 years, I still have seller’s regret, and would like to know if the car is still on the road, where, and if it might be for sale. I sold it to a young guy in Indiana, but I don’t remember his name or where in Indiana he lived. He bought it from me in Chester, Il. I didn’t keep the VIN number, so I don’t have any way of tracing it.

The pictures show how it looked when it was sold. It was originally white, but I sold it freshly painted candy apple red, with a red hard top and a black soft top. It had a black vinyl interior, 327ci motor and 4 speed transmission, and was not a numbers matching car. Unique to the car is the exhaust: it went through the bumper originally, but I changed it to go under the car instead, closed off the openings and rechromed the bumper. Also, the stock tachometer was replaced by a black Sun tachometer.

If anyone remembers the car or knows where it is now, I would sure appreciate having the information. Please call Jim at 618-826-2620 or email. Thanks in advance

Contact your local DMV. They can give you the Vin. Then you can do a trace with carfax.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, I already contacted Ill DMV with the plate number, but they said they only keep records for 10 years. I also thought they might be able to search my name and get a list of vehicles I previously licensed, but they said their records aren't organized that way either. So, I'm stuck.

60 vette

I picked up my 60 in '96. Previous owner was from Indiana. Reddish maroon, diamond tuck interior, hard top, stock wheels. Had a Sunbeam Corp. parking sticker on windshield. Originally white with red interior.

Thanks for the info, but I don't think that's my car, because mine originally was white, but had a black interior. Does it have original exhaust (through the bumper)? I'd like to see a picture of your car if you wouldn't mind posting one. Thanks again, Jim
