Looking for experienced tech service

I am experiencing a engine noise that I am not sure is important or not. the noise sounds like a "spark" knock under modestly heavy acceleration. My Local dealer does not have anyone with experience working on these cars. One guy at the dealership said it was normal another said he couldn't hear it. The car is under warranty so I guess I need to go to a dealer. My Question is does anyone know of a dealership in southeast to mid michigan that has qualified service techs capable of doing quality for this type of problem. I really don't want some inexperienced tech working on the engine. Thanks

Are you sure its not the intake valves? They make a tremendous racket! I hear mine through the vents.

How close are you to South Bend, In? when I lived in Mich. I always took my Corvette for Mech/body work to Gates Chevy on Western Ave in South Bend....They have 2 young mech. that do all their work on vettes...............

Thanks for the reply norty. It could well be the intake valves, I just don't remember hearing it when I first got the car. Then again I was in such awe of the car I may have just not noticed. I would love to ride in another "Z" to see if it is the same noise.
