I am looking for my first vette. I would like some recommendations on the most reliable/dependable years. I have enjoyed the "education" I have received from reading the post. I am in the Oklahoma City area, any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks,
The Pastor

How much money do you have to spend? ;)

The newer the Vette, the more features you'll find and the least 'bugs'. GM is constantly improving the Vette each year, so look for the newest one you can afford.

After that, it depends on what you are looking for - coupe, convertible, fixed-roof-coupe, generation, etc.

Spending Money

I will have between 7000 and 8000 cash. I have been shopping far and wide. Missed a great deal on a 93 for 8000. You snooze you loose. I am really enjoying shopping and getting to know so many vette owners.

Thanks

$7000-8000 can get you a nice ride. You can get a nice C4 for that kind of money. Any idea if you're looking for an early model or later model?

Buy the book; Vette Specs 1984-1996 by Mike Antoinik (spelled right I think). It gives the specs and features year by year. This helped me tremendously.

What am I looking for?

I'm more concerned with find a dependable car. I have driven a 92, nice but it was driven hard. Lots of things that didn't work, bad paint. I missed a great 93 that had a rebuilt title, scared me.

Any suggestions?

Test drive every Vette you can find that is near your price range. Each Vette seems to have its own personality and one will suit you more than any of the others.

Check with autotrader.com. I did a search there recently and found quite a few Vettes within 50 miles of OKC. There are several on dealer lots and several from private sellers. If you can come up with more money, you might want to look at my 92 as it is for sale (ad on this forum).
