Question: Looking for right mufflers

Love my '00 Roadster but stock exhaust tone is quieter than I would like. Any suggestions about a throatier sound but not brutally loud - at a reasonable price and installable by a non genius mechanic?

You asked about exhaust... I was/am so dissatisfied with magnaflow if it say exhaust.... I'm gonna tell my story!

I had a a C4 system installed (had it done because I was DEPLOYED) on my '90 just before I retired and moved from Savannah back to N. Georgia. The OVER PRICED and UNDER ENGINEERED magnaflow muffler suspension tabs began to break in 6 mos! I figured no problem and rolled into the nearest dealer, only to be told that the company policy was for ME to return to SAVANNAH (4 hr drive) to have it replaced by the DEALER that installed it! I called and emailed magnafolw customer (no) service,and was told that was the policy, that other wise I might have got it from a junk yard and trying to scam them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I tend to be persistent and found a dealer (and his distributor) close by that quickly saw that the "policy" was a way to CHEAT customers and supported my claim. Just as a point of interest, I have replaced the R side twice and the L once..... I have since created a discrete wrap around retainer that redistributes the tension along a greater area.

I wouldn't disgrace my Craftsman mower with magnaflow mufflers or their CRAPPY warranty.

I will happily share my email exchanges with customer no service if you are interested!

Hi everyone.
Just my 2 cents worth.
I installed 'Corsa' exhaust on my 90 c4 and loved them.
The tone was just right inside and out.

West Coast Corvette has a nice setup for under $600. It looks and sounds like Corsa for half the price.

I've got the Corsa Pace Car System on my '04 Vert and love it. Just enough growl during acceleration to get the blood pumping, nice and smooth at cruise... Don't forget the X-pipe, it makes a huge difference!!!

Corsa pace car on my 04 and I couldn't be more pleased with the sound. Quiet when cruising and a great sound when you get on it. No X pipe on mine.

If you are planning on keeping the car basically stock, The Borla or Corsa Pace Car systems are probably the ticket. However, if you plan on adding other performance mods (e.g., stroker motor, headers), consider getting something quieter... like a Z06 pull-off. Things get loud in a hurry when you combine performance goodies and an open exhaust.

I have the B&B stainless exhaust on my C5. I'm unsure of which one it is because it was already installed when I bought her. I do believe it's the Route 66 package... nice throaty growl on acceleration but pleasant at cruising speed.

:naughty: Nothing sweeter than a nice throaty growl on a female!!! I personally have the Corsca Pace mufflers on my C5, and you hear them when you punch it or don't hear them when you are cruising, and I don't have the X pipe, but I love the burble.

Mufflers - easy to install?

Are the Corsa, Borla and others as easy to install as ads indicate, "easy bolt on", etc? Or a major poject?

If you can raise your car off the floor at least 2feet you should be able to remove and install a set of catback exhaust without any problems. There are plenty of threads on this site and others with "how-to" DIY.

My wife has Borla Stingers on her '01 Vert, she loves the sound. I have B&B Bullits on my '00 Vert, They have a 'drone" in traffic... but are quiet on the road.
