Hi, folks. I was driving my '72 around a couple of weeks back and in the middle of my trip, I noticed that my blinkers, while illuminated, were no longer flashing when they're supposed to.

Obvious problem, you say: the flasher can at the fuse panel. But, the flashers flash when the hazard button is pulled! I pulled and inspected all of the light bulbs; they're all good and all illuminate. Why in the world would the flashers work for the hazrd circuit, but not for the turn signals? Both left and right turn signals behave the same way: lights illuminate (inclusing dash lights on the speedo and tach), but no flashing. This must be a simple problem. Any insight?

I thought that the hazzards and directionals used different flashers?
Yes, after searching further on this site, I've found references to a seperate flasher component for the directionals. Someone with a '74 says that it's behind the lower dash pad on the pass. side, to the right of the radio. I've been all under the dash with a flashlight and see nothing but a wiring harness composed mainly of pink wires. Where would the flasher component be?

Gary ... On a '71 the flasher IS on the Pass side. Behind the panel just to the inside of the AstroVent push/pull knob. It has a capasitor between the 2 prongs { R/C timer I think} Mine would shake off and I'd get the symptoms you've described. I ty-wapped the plastic plug to the flasher prongs @ refurb of interior. No problems since.
