Low coolant light

I've been having a lot of problems with this light. It seems to come on and go off on it's own schedule. I burped the car and that seemed to eliminate the problem for a while. But, it always seems come back on. I'm "fairly" sure there are no leaks, but the presents of this potentially disruptive tell-tale is unnerving. I've been told the problem is a design issue in that the overflow tank was located too low in the '88 C4. Ok, my question... Has any one overcome this problem and what did you do?

I had the same problem. Replaced the cap on the overflow tank and the problem went away.

same prob, many years, many engines...''every'' time i drop the coolant to service something...add a bit of coolant every day to the rad for about a week, the light will give up.

Good way to pack the cooling system is to:
remove rad cap
run engine till thermostat opens
reach over from the passenger side and hold throttle open, keeping the rpm around 2000
fill rad and replace cap
release throttle
