LOW FUEL message on DIC

The DIC indicates LOW FUEL and the CHECK GAUGES light is illuminated on the face plate of the speedo/tach.

All gauges appear to be working except the fuel gauge. What happened was the fuel gauge needle went from 1/2 to E, then the LOW FUEL message on the DIC went off. A moment later the fuel gauge went back to 1/2, and then back to E - and the LOW FUEL message reappeared. This happened a few times and now remains in the later state.

Anyone encounter this?

By the way when this message is on the DIC you can not use the buttons to toggle through any of the other settings such as TRIP meter.

Thanks,
Dom C

Dom,
I've heard of this issue before. The likely problem is poor quality (meaning something less than "Top Tier") fuel, with contaminants that get in the way of sensors.

Take a look at THIS THREAD... and in particular, check out the links Tammy posted to Technical Service Bulletins. Hopefully, this will help. If the problem is that you have something other than a "clean" fuel from a Top Tier retailer, a couple of tankfuls should cure the problem. In the meantime, I might also suggest adding some Techron to the fuel tank to help clean it.

HI there,
Because your fuel system is FFS, you may need the drivers side fuel tank sensing unit.
Extract codes from the 10-PCM and this may give us the lead that can assist you further.
