low fuel warning light

Your fuel gage shouldn't malfunction. My bulb has been out for quite some time and the gage works just fine. My new low fuel circuit should be arriving any day. Excited about putting it in and testing. Which makes me ask, when should the low fuel light come on? Is it at a quarter of a tank or less?

look thru these documents and it will tell you how to check the circuit board and low fuel warning light.

the light is part of the circuit board, they both come out together and can be acessed by removing the glove box.

the sending unit is not hard to check either,by removing the gas cap and the round plate on the top of the tank,

you can remove the sending unit and test it.

So after reading this thread, I have an interesting twist. I am restoring my 77 vette, and I'm putting the dash back together. Gas in the tank, registering a little fuel on the gas gauge but no low fuel light. New sending unit. New printed circuit. No low fuel light. So i bought a new module from the guy on ebay, and when I plug it in and turn the key, the printed circuit melts and starts smoking! Not sure what to make of that. I put the old printed circuit back on the gauges and the same result. The silicon melts around the copper thread of the feed to the low fuel light ring of the printed circuit.

I will add to this YOU GUYS ROCK!! I cant stand it when crap doesnt work, low fuel light stays on so I just unplugged it. After this thread though, I am ordering a module since mine didnt have one in it! Hence the light stayed on...lmao. Just goes with the plumbers putty I found in the turn signal sockets to hold the bulbs in!!! spent hours cleaning that crap out of them. Almost have another shark saved and you guys are awesome help for little quirks on these beasties.!
