I am getting low oil pressure(14psi) during idle'g and the coolant starts
to go up wiht a red light also. During normal driving the oil pressre goes
back to around 42 and coolant around 202.
I in school at Fort Lee VA with about one week left and 700 miles to get home
all ideas will be greatly appreicated too include a good mechanic in the
petersbugh area.
thanks Ray
My vette has 114868 miles on it. I had a major tune up, rad
flush, transmission service and the EGR valve and solnidor was replace by
martin burks chevolet before I came on this trip.

Replace the sending unit first, as it may be acting up.

Then replace the oil pump. My problem was similar to yours, and replacing the oil pump fixed it.

low oil pressre

know any mechanic in this are?
What kind of cost for replace of pump and sending units?:confused

I bought a Melling 55-A pump from Summit, i think it was like $30.

Install will run you $200-250 i bet.

Your oil pressure is probably low because your car is overheating if the red light is coming on.

Make sure the coolant is full. Sometimes when people flush the coolant, they'll not fill the block up, just the radiator. Then you get steam in the engine and the coolant cannot flow there. Try taking off your thermostat housing and fill the block up with 50/50 coolant and then top off the radiator. If you can fix your cooling problem, I'll bet your oil pressure will return to normal.

Thanks for your replys
The problem turn out to be the coolant fan was not running
oil and coolant temp is now normal.
