If I put in a low temp thermostat in my 84 do I need to do anything else? I have looked at Ecklers and they offer a harness coversion kit. Is this a lower value temperature sensor? Is there anything in the ecm that needs to be changed?

Thew only thing a lower T-stat is going to do is open itself earlier...What you need to do is install a toggle switch to the fan relay...with this you can turn on the fan when YOU want to keep the car cooler....To do this look for the relay to the fan (its located on the front left wheel well just in front of the master cylinder. You will see a green wire with a white stripe...connect another wire to this wire and route the wire through the firewall...connect the toggle switch and mount it someplace easy to access. Now run a wire from the other side of the toggle to a good ground. Thats all you need to do.

Shuould't you replace your chip also....as it controls the fan/fans???
Thats how I did it.....also replaced the switch on the pass. side head.....
good luck....
Just my thoughts...

I just grounded my fan wire to stay on all the time. If you live in Chandler (I live in Arizona) there is just no reason really for the fan to kick on and off; just let it run! I never have a problem with the vette running too cool; thats for sure!

You do not have to do anything else, and the car will run fine, but as long as you are on the move your temp will stay low but once you stop it will climb until the fans kick on or you start moving again.
