Has anyone installed the LPE/Accel superam intake on a Callaway?
Has anyone seen or thought of using a First Sensors TPI intake system?
I have a F.I.R.S.T. intake sitting on my shelf, so I'm curious if anyone has any input??

The SuperRam won't fit as far as it looks - The First Sensors, is that the plastic one, or am I thinking of that other one??

SLP runners should fit the Callaway cars too....

I think they would look great polished under the hood of a Callaway.

Heheh, yeah. Try putting it on your B2K! That will answer it for sure. :)

I'd think the intercoolers and the rams horn are the "hard points" if you will. The things that would be a bit harder to move if the FIRST interfered with them. Otherwise, it's an L98 under there, so if it bolts to that, it should bolt up to a CTTC. That's my internet warrior guess though, with no firsthand knowledge at all. :beer

I think the crinkle black finish is bad-azz on the stock motors. I'd vote for finishing any new intake pieces the same way. :)

Common knowledge tpi was for 305, they cast a new tpi for big cube motors? Way back with first MAFS.

Posted a link, let me know what you think?

While that might be true that the TPI was originally developed for use on the 305, the 350, which came out at the same time, seemed to do fine. Subsequently, other runner designs and plenum porting options became popular, including siamesed runners like the SLP runer or welded up Traco designs.

Other options over the years, have included polymer intakes and extrude honing. While one was to supposedly control heat soak of the intake, the other was to smooth the interior passages in ways that manual porting could never achieve. :cool

Now, regarding the FIRST technologies intake, it does not look as if the hard parts as Aurora put it, will bolt up. Look at the bolt pattern on the inlet of the throttle body - how close does it match the rams-horn that must be attached? ;shrug

IIRC, the FIRST Tech design could have its throttle body mounted on the side or the front, making it a fine choice for street rods with clearance issues for inlets.

Here are the gaslets of each to compare:

I think fabbing up the piece to mate it to the rams horn will be the biggest issue with the FIRST setup.

If youre going aftermarket intake setup Id try the modified Holley Stealthram. With any tpi setup the long runner will still be a hp limiting feature....though you will lose the torque rush of the TPI setup. It will make more hp but might be less fun to drive.

We have another member who has made 650rwhp with a stock GM TPI setup.

My next b2k will probably pass on the manifold setup for a modded turbo compressor housing.

Pics of my FIRST intake

Yes, the throttle body to ramshorn seem to be the biggest challange?
I'm going to try and post a pic of my intake?
The dimension of the overall intake seem to be identical to the TPI, however the adapter that was made for the throttle body on my FIRST intake moves the throttle body too close to the ramshorn.
I need to find a way to mount the Accel thottle body flush with the original mounting flange, and it should bolt right up to the ramshorn?

Rumor has it, as I have not tried, that the aftermarket throttlebodies do not bolt up directly to the ramshorn. If youre going to go that route you need to have a stock GM one bored out to the 52mm.

ahhhhhhhhhhh, thanks for the heads up tip, I just assumed it would bolt up?

Again don't take it as gospel but thats what I was told. :beer

Surf, you can look at the FIRST intake's TB and see the bolt pattern is much different and the mouting shape/flange is off as well. Looking at "fiveoone's" intake pic, there is an adapter that further pushes the TB out.

While the billet 1000cfm (58mm) TBs are also going to push out the rams horn making the rest of the geometry of the intercoolers to not line up right, the one in his pic might work. *might*

I like the modded Stealth Ram idea best :upthumbs
