All,

Does anyone know of a reference source which can tell me what Corvettes came with what option? In other words, is there a source I can go into with a VIN and find out if it was originally made as an LT-1 and with what options?

Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark, tt72 here, what you need to buy is "Corvette by the numbers", and get the NCRS 1970-1972 Judging Manual, and the NCRS 1968-1982 Corvette Spec Guide. The hard thing about the 68 thru 71s is that Chevy did not keep the records. Too many cars and no space for storage. Another problem is that 68 thru 71 VIN #s did not indicate the engine selection. Chevy changed that in 72, W = 454, L = LT-1, and K = L48. However the Engine code still was used to denote a special option like the LT-1 ZR-1, those LT-1s had a certain three letter engine code. So a lot of detective work must be done on the 70 & 71 LT-1s to verify an LT-1 as opposed to just looking at the VIN on a 72. This site has the codes in the knowledge base I think. The one sure way I've learned is to have the tank sticker. If you need the codes just ask & I'll get them from my NCRS books. tt72 I mis-typed, sorry! Chevy did not keep any of the C3 records as I understand it.

Hi Mark, I keep forgetting things, there is a thread in the LT-1 section that has alot of clues described when looking at a LT-1 C3. "Thinjing about LT-1 buy any tips" from 5/17/04. The members here gave very detailed info in reply and it is useful reading. tt72
