This has happened twice now and I don't have a clue why. The last time it stalled I was driving home from a short 10 mile trip from the store. I had made a spirited romp along a 1 mile straight and slowed to 40mph as I started down a fairly steep hill. Got to the bottom and came to a full stop, then gave a little gas and she quit. No cough or choke just stopped dead. I put it in neutral (automatic) and was able to start it after about 5 seconds. As I said at the top this is the second time this has happened, the other time was at low speed (approx. 20mph) and gave it a litte gas (and I mean a little) and it just quit. I was able to start it by putting the trans in neutral like the last time. The funny thing about this is it runs great after this happens, no hint of a problem. Some vital statistics from yesterdays stall:

Water Temp 205.
Fuel over 1/2 tank. 93 octain
AC was off at the time
outside temp 90 deg.

Any ideas would be appreceated.

Guess the best place to start is by checking for codes?

I have the "infamous" OBDI and no analyzer to check codes, or am I missing something!!! These ECM modules are a black box to me and I guess I don't know what I can or cannot do without an analyzer. Thanks for the input though Rabbit.

OBD1 can be checked with a scanner. I believe u can buy them at auto parts stores for about 50 or so bucks. I am inclined to think you have a bad TPS sensor with the symtom you described. Just my .02

I have owned the car for almost 3 years and have not changed the fuel filter. I can almost bet it has the original filter. It is an easy fix but why do you suggest this? I can see at higher RPM's this may be a factor but why at idle? I will probably change the filter though just to see what happens.

Thanks...

Get the filter out of the equation! It's cheap. When a filter is even partially blocked it can cause problems. Don't believe that 100,000 mile crap.
