Does anyone know if the LT1 Shorty Headers will fit on 87 - 91 L98 heads? Anyone have this combo, that can share some info? Thanks in advance!

I do not think those would work, but I'm not 100% sure. At the very least, I've bumped you back to the top and someone knowledgeable will answer your question.

The LT1 headers are designed so that the factory LT1 cats will attach to them. The L98 pre-cats are different in their mounting design. You may even run into some clearance issues with them.

Long tube headers such as Hooker Super Comps (2149 or 2151) will provide much more HP/torque improvements than the shorty headers will but at a higher cost.

They will bolt to the heads, but they wont attach to the stock Y.

vader,

That would be a lot of work (time and money) to make those fit. So it probably wouldn't be worth the gain right?

Shorty headers are kind of like ported exhaust manifolds right? They do flow more than exhaust manifolds but for the money, you're better off saving for long tube headers?

Yeah, in my opinion its not worth the time. Shorty's will save weight, but do comparatively little for hp. No more than 5-7.

So the exhaust ports for the LT1 and 1st gen SBC heads are the same? Just wondering not that familiar with all the intracasities of the 2nd gen motors.

Went with Hedman Headers without the Emissions Garbage that comes with stock L98s. Live in New Hampshire and no smog test required. I also got the O2 sensor reducer. All from Summitracing. Is their any Horsepower to gain from the removal of the emissions stuffs?
