Went to PEP Boys this weekend to find gear oil for the 66.
Settled on the Shell Heavy Duty 80w. I know the manual says you need a special
kind for a posi rear.

What kind are you guys using and where are you finding it?

Also, what kind of lubricant are you using for the steering box?

Your thoughts and help are appreciated.

For the posi, I use what I can find plus two bottles of GM posi supplement. While you're at the GM parts counter, buy a few bottles of GM Engine Oil Supplement is you're running an old engine on today's crankcase oil. It's got a lubrication pack that restores the additives not needed by today's engines.

thanks Kid, I guess i'll take a trip to my chevy dealer for that and the
steering box lube...I couldn't even find find my oil filter pf25 at PEP Boys
it seems AC Delco has changed the part numbers and the catalogs only
go back to 1980 now.

Have you ever thought about running a synthetic oil in your engine?

No need to respond to this thread any more...I did some searches of past
threads (which is what I should have done in the first place) and found
my questions on lube already answered. thanks again.

Glad you found what you need.

NAPA has the oil filters.

Synthetic oil, in my personal opinion, is 100% synthetic marketing. Might as well put that $20 magnet on your fuel line to "align" all the molecules. :eyerole
