Its not a big job, just be careful that you do not cut the electronic element thats on the inside. I would not be concerned with any debris getting by, just make sure that you have a real good air cleaner preferrably a K&N, with doing both at the same time you will notice a difference in response and acceleration, while you have that apart you should also do the throttle body bypass mod that will add a tiny bit more and before you know it you picked up 10 to 15 honest RWHP! Then its AFR Heads, 3.73 rear, shift kit etc. etc.etc, etc, and you hooked for life! LOL!!!

Also, the MAF I had in place is the hogged-out one with no screens or fins.
The runs we pulled with the MAF off were no different than the ones pulled with the MAF and ductwork in place. It could be that mine hasn't had all of the bugs worked out yet, or it could mean that the difference (with or without the MAF) isn't that noticeable. Just like the "air foil" insert for the throttle body basically being a waste of time and money.

Ken said:Jeff, what did you use to fill the gap? Is that a piece of PVC pipe? I was told places like Home Depot have rubber ducting that might be a way to go, I'm gonna check in on it one of these days. HD is not one of my favorite places to visit.
