Can the BF Goodrich Comp T/A ZR run flats be used on the 18 x 9.5 and 18 x 11 wheels?

Tire Rack carries 235/40ZR-18, 295/35ZR-18, and 295/45ZR-18. Which of these would you recommend for the front and rear? If it is possible to use these run flats, will I need to lower the car or will the car still appear stock from a distance. I like the stock look; want to avoid the 4X4 look if I get new wheels/tires. I appreciate your feedback.

BFGoodrich makes Run-Flats? Gee, I don't think so. I just searched their website and TireRack's site. No such animal. Sorry to burst your bubble, but it should help you greatly to have the right info, instead of laboring under a misconception.

Having said that, and with full knowledge of Murphy's Law, please show me the info that say BF Goodrich makes a run-flat and I'll be happy to eat the opening paragraph.

I thought years ago they made runflats but then stopped production..if you could hold out I would imagine the new michelin pax system might work..but you'll need special rims to work with the pax system.

I believe Michelin is allowing other manufacturers to copy its design for the runflat wheels and tire combo an a nominal fee so they can become the standard for the industry.

The new viper runs the new system but its a wheel/tire combo.

If it were me I would mount nonrunflats and enjoy the benefits they offer..(carry air pump and plug kit...its about 25 dollars total)

Can you wait until the new line of runflats hits the market..if not..I'd pick up a set of practically new runflats that are offered for sale throughout the net till then.

Then buy the new michelin pax type for the Vette..when its available.

To check the sizes your mentioning..you need to check the diameter of each set of tires and make sure not only the heights are close to existing runflats but also that the ratio..front to rear is similar otherwise you'll throw off the ABS and traction control systems.

good luck and sorry I don't have your specific answer either.

The SSS type of the COMP T/A has been discontinued. TireRack has a "special" (a blowout special, no doubt) on a 20 inch size.

The sizes you mention are for the ZR which are NOT runflats.

There is absolutely no mention of "SSS" on the BF Goodrich website. Search the BFG site for "run-flat" or "SSS" and you will find nothing.

Hey, I was only trying to help you out of YOUR misconception.

(Us Vette drivers are a truly competetive bunch, ain't we?)

Hope you find what you're looking for.

Abrimberry, Macshee 98 is correct. The BF's runflats have been discontinued. The only tires you can get on the sizes you mentioned are non-runflat's. If it's run-flat's your after, your stuck with the stock sizes. For your info, Michelin makes probably the best run-flat at the moment, the Pilot Sport All Season Zero Pressure's. Also worthy of honorable mention is the Yokahama Avs run-flat. Again, to my knowledge unless there's been a recent change, only available in stock C5 sizes. If you want to run bigger/fatter tires, I would suggest non-runflat's as JBSC5 mentioned, and a tire repair kit/air pump. You can buy the Z06 tire repair kit at the dealer, or a supporting vendor here at this site..Good LUck!
