Is there any harm in manually shifting the 700r4? Would it be better to put in some other sort of valve body? I just like shifting it myself sometimes, makes me feel more "in touch" with the car.

Ooops, this should have been in the C4 forum! hahaha.
Thanks for the info.

C4 Forum, you say? No problem! Hang on, this won't take but a moment...

All you can really do is delay the shift. You can't make it shift early. B&M makes a nice kit to alter the valve body to give firmer shifts and raise the pressure. Actually helps the transmission.

I just wanted to make sure I wasn't hurting anything going from OD to D or 2 when I hit the twisties.

Nope not at all...unless your speed is such that you over-rev the engine when you drop to a lower gear. heheh

Nice thing about being in 3 2 or 1 is the overrun clutch is engaged...which provides you with "engine braking" (ie the transmission doesn't go "neutral" when you let off the throttle).

That's all good news. I find that going from OD to D or just staying in D gives great control on the windy backroads I like to drive.
