I thought Maxie Price was long dead. Apparently one location is still around, but they haven't changed their business model.

Trading In Your Car.

When you trade in a car, as has been stated, the dealer assumes all the risks and saves you a lot of the hassles but that comes at a price.

The dealer has to eventually sell the car and may not get what they want for it, and it may take time to sell it. Time is money to a business. The more time passes, the lower the value of the car hence all those reduced prices for a previous model year.

You say your trade in value was $36700 and you wanted $38000? That's more than the car was supposedly worth as a trade in but they want to spend as little money as possible to make as much money as possible hence their offer of $30000 hoping you would take it. Their feeling is you want that Corvette and want to be seen in it and if you want it bad enough, you would go for their offer.

The best thing I think is to sell your car privately. Above wholesale of course and maybe just a little below average retail because everyone wants to get a good deal and I think your car will sell faster that way. Every used car is for sale for a reason.

As for this dealer, if they were hungry enough they'd be back to you and try to work something out but one of the folks on here has had bad dealings with them and from what I gather, a lot of folks won't deal with Maxie Price. I've never heard of them myself but personally I think I'd steer clear of them based upon many other's opinions.

There's other dealers and Corvettes out there.

As a dealer, I can tell you that KBB is not usually what is used to determine the trade-in price of a car. Banks use NADA, and so do we. It's more realistic.

I would check out Rick hendrick Buford Ga..... They are the new corvette super store. Joe marasale and Brian are the guys to talk with..... They gave me top dollar and worked out a better deal then i was going to get from the biggest new jersey super center ... Hope this helps

I suggest Rick Hendrick also. I bought an 08' from Maxie and got a good deal after showing the Kerbeck price. However, last year I wanted to trade it for a GS and got a seriously lowball offer for my trade. I went to Hendricks in Duluth and got $5k more for my trade and paid $3 less for the GS! I'll never go back to Maxie again!

WARNING...Maxie Price's Management and sale staff are nothing but scam artists! BEWARE!!!

I can tell you that I would not accept a car from Maxie Price if the were giving them away! Read some of my previous posts regarding my experience with them. Also check out their Better Business Bureau ratting...a WHOPPING "F"! I purchased a 1998 C5 from then on New Years Eve, the sales person said it was in excellent condition and was 100%. I dove there from Hickory NC and they rushed me out the door right at closing time being it was New Years Eve. On the way home I realized the car was NOT 100%. I have been trying to contact them ever since, and they have still never returned my phone calls...NOT ONE! Now $1,500.00 later, my car seem to be "ok". <TEXT DELETED - UNLESS YOU ARE A SUPPORTING DEALER HERE - PLEASE DO NOT ADVERTISE THE DEALERSHIP YOU WORK FOR SINCE WE HAVE DEALERS THAT PAY TO ADVERTISE HERE. THANK YOU - ROB, SITE ADMINISTRATOR> Weather you call me or not, I would definitely steer clear of Maxie Price Chevrolet!

OK, I'm a ex Chevrolet dealer. Here's the scoop. Keep in mind that the new cars they have are "floor planned" meaning they don't have their cash in them, they are only paying interest! So any volume dealer should sell you a new car at invoice or a little over (don't forget to research and ask about additional $ rebates and dealer cash)

The trade in on the other hand take their cash to inventory, I never used a book and a good dealer wont, I allways looked at it from what can I sell the car for then back out reconditioning and the profit I want to make.

Dealers make their money on service (fixed ops) and used cars. My goal was to sell as many new as I could to generate used cars and service business.

So, bottom line. For the best deal sell your car for retail and buy the new one for wholesale. A clean deal!

I would recommend one of the dealer that support us here at CAC. Mcmulkin sure advertised some great prices

Hope this helps

I know this thread is 3 or 4 years old but Ill post anyway. Last August I had the best new car buying experience ever. I flew from Atlanta to Boston for 84 dollars and drove home a new 2011 GS from MacMulkin. They beat the pants off of any dealers near me plus I got to vacation in Boston for a day for a pretty cheap price!

It's always great to hear about a positive buying experience - especially from a CAC supporting dealer. That's the way everyone should buy/sell cars.:thumb

NADA Pricing

Not disputing your cost of $38K for your 2006 Z4 for KKB but NADA is showing a value of around $30K for your 3.0 SI Coupe with all options. Dealers are not my favorite people but not into bashing where it is not due.

I'll post the same answer as I did on the other forum: I'd drive a Ford before I'd buy a car from Maxie Price. They took deposits on Z06's from lots of folks, and then delivered the cars to those who paid premiums prices when they came in - never offering a car to those who still had deposits at the dealership. I've heard many similar stories about them over the years.
They were tossed as a supporting dealer by another Forum.;LOL

Totally agree 110%!!

While this has been an interesting thread for years, I'm going to close it. Anyone with new facts that rise above normal dissatisfaction with some aspect of old Maxie is free to comment in a new topic.
