Mid America failed to put both pages of instructions in my kit. I finally found page 2 of the instructions on the web, which confirmed I completed the wiring correctly, but I've still got trouble.

Mid America's kit tells me to cut the white wire on the brake switch, which I have. The instructions also mention that some cars have a 3rd wire on that connector, a light blue wire, but doesn't say whether to leave it alone or cut it.

The service manual says the white wire is the Stop Lamp Switch Signal (domestic)
and the light blue wire lists as Stop Lamp Switch Signal.

All other wiring has been checked and rechecked and rechecked (again)....so I don't see anything else to try. I think I need to cut this lt blue wire too.

Has anyone else have Mid America's euro taillights and has run into this 3rd wire - the light blue one?

I do not think that the blue wire should be cut.
I believe that the white wire goes to the 4-way blinker and turn signal circuit and the blue wire goes to the 3rd eye brake light. With the euro lights you have to separate the brake and turn signals because they do not work together like on American models.
We have made quite a few Euro conversions and on all of the late model GM cars this was the case.
I have yet to find a plug-n-play harness to convert the lights… it has always been easier to cut and splice the existing one. You will also need to change the flasher relay to a transistorized one to keep the turn signals blinking properly.

Thanks. This kept me up all night reading through the service manual. I agree, the blue wire stays.

I think my trouble is in the harness or instructions. I will look at the harness wiring at the lamp sockets for problems and rethink the wiring splices. I think I'm making this harder than it is.

I'm told Ecklers kit and LAPD's kit uses a different harness connection that uses a factory style weatherproof connector that goes between the factory harness connector in the rear. Unplug the orig connection and put this one in between. It does not require all the cutting and splicing that Mid Americas kit requires.

Thanks for the help! :beer
