Need some info. Went to a friends Corvette shop yesterday. He's building a 67 coupe "street machine" for a customer. Has a 572 BB and a 5 speed installed in the rolling frame. Body is off. The car is getting a frame off resto.

Two questions:

First, the original 67BB hood won't clear the top of the carb on the BB, even without the aircleaner. Does anyone make a 67 style BB hood that is "taller"?
He called Ecklers, no luck. While I was there, we called Sermerscheim and Corvette Image about the hood...no luck. Vanacor is "going to be" making them, but don't have them now.

Second, (this is for another customer car), what company makes the rear quarter panels that are 1 1/2 to 2 inches wider than stock, but look original from a profile view?

Thanks for any help and advice. Chuck

you may want to contact Midyear (Dennis) down in GA. He built a custom Stinger hood that is taller than normal to clear a 502 Ramjet motor. perhaps he would be willing to fabricate another one.
he is a link to his website showing the hood:

I remember hearing where the wide fenders come from but can't remember. Two people can easily tell you though. Stepinwolf on here has a pair or two - in fact i think he had a set for sale at Carlisle last year so he should be able to tell you where the source is or even maybe sell you a set if he still has extras. Also, 67Heaven can tell you if you email or PM him as he has them on his car.

Also to add to what barry has posted.. Stepinwolf linked me to and Artical from I think Hot Rod Mag ware they installed a Edelbrock Air Gap manifold and Cam and improved the 572 at the street end ..The improvement in Torque was impessive. And best of all it is a low profile intake. This I think will let you use the stock BB hood.

Check with Stepinwolf..

Also .heres a link from my post ware Dennis..(Midyear) Posted a pic of the Hood.. He might have one to go.. Scroll down to see his reply..

midyear fender panels

I recently found 2 sources, have not purchased at this time, so you will need to decide. One is in Denver CO, email CorvetteMasters@cs.com , Gary was the gentleman that I exchanged e-mails with and he sent me an info package, mostly photos of finished cars. GTS Customs in Southern CA also offers fender panels, or complete cars. I had a 3rd business but can't find the info in my archives but I believe they were in Ohio (found initially on EBAY some months ago and still see an occasional EBAY auction).

Thanks for all the info. I've passed it on to my "bud" at his Corvette shop. The ball is in his court now. :) Chuck
