Im going to be doing a project soon and it is not permanent, but when I do it it will put a considerable amount of weight in the rear section of the vehicle. Just wondering what can be done to allow the rear suspension to accomodate more weight so it wont be riding on its bumpstops the entire time..

Keep in mind a little-known fact: the payload rating of a C5 is only about 400 lbs (and that includes the occupants) so a load of significantly more than that may be unsafe. In addtion, if this considerable amont of weight is all in the rear, it may make the car's handling unsafe as well.

There is no easy way to significantly increase the ride height of the rear of a C5 to compensate for a heavy load.

Sounds like you need to rent a pick-up truck.

may seem low, but that is about the extent of it - as Hib suggested anything over that is really asking for trouble!

Hi there,
The GVWR or gross vehicle weight rating of the car is only about 3800 lbs.
If you look on the drivers door, you will see a tire placard, along with the total weight rating of the car.
Once you weight your car, with a full fuel tank, then you will know exactly how much weight you can add to your vehicle in keeping with safety guidelines.

Not to be a wise guy but rather than trying to safely modify the Corvette suspension..

better to rent a truck or use another personal vehicle..

Better not to mess with payloads etc and trying to adapt the vehicle..

Just curiouse what is the project you are doing and what are you trying to haul?

6 15" woofers in the rear hatch. Going for record # of woofers in a C5 coupe...
