The new L81vetteregistry.com

As a joint effort between Rare and myself, I would like to announce the release of the new L81vetteregistry!

After a month's worth of hardwork, the new L81vetteregistry.com was launched at 1:14pm (EST) today! Check it out TODAY!

As mentioned in a previous post, our new registry features the following:
 • An advanced, BROWSE-ABLE database!
 • User information/photo is now editable by the user!
 • Quick, simple navigation
 • and more!
The new release of the L81vetteregistry is expected to re-invigorate our L81 community and hopefully draw new members! Please let us know what you think!

Fine job gentleman!

I would like to extend my congratulations to you on the new L-81 Registry. I am very impressed with the new look and features (especially the registry). I am thankful to have access to the site and I am confident that it will be an asset to all of our fellow L-81ers.

I am the proud Papa of a low milage St. Louis production L-81 which is being restored with an emphasis on exceeding NCRS specifications and returning the vehicle to a pre-dealer state. I have made a hobby out of researching the 1981 Corvette for several years and have become, more or less, an unofficial historian on the L-81. That said, I would like to offer my collection to you in an effort to further advance the site and assist members.

I have detailed MS Word files on various subjects including specifications, technical information, history and the year 1981 itself. I have also put together extensive picture files with detailed photographs of low milage L-81's, individual components, modifications, dealer and factory literature, toys, clothing etc. We have even managed to collect a former St. Louis assembly plant supervisor as well as the owner of the last St. Louis Corvette and the first Bowling Green Corvette (both in a pre-dealer state).

If I can be of any assistance to you and the site please feel free to email me at the address I used when I registered with the site. You can also email me and I can give you my phone number.

STW! Platato

Sounds very interesting PLatato! (Check your private messages).

I see you added a photo to our photo album...very nice! (I voted you 5 stars!) Thanks for the feed back.

Tim & Bud

Congratulations!:upthumbs On the new L-81 Registry. It appears that this is going to be a Superb web site with some great features and a wealth of information. Can't wait till all the features are up and running.

Bud

I let my Vette set so long that all four Calipers leaked badly, So I replaced the Calipers and installed new Brake Pads last week. It about did me in, but I got the job done, and drove my Vette today the first time in over a year. I'm still trying to get all the spider webs, dust and Cob webs off of it. It is going take a while to get it polished again, but I'm getting there.

Grizzly:)

Hey guys, looks great! I'm a little concerned though, I could not log in, or find my registry information, but I know I registered yeaaaaars ago. No big deal really, I can always do it again, any ideas what happened?

I believe the NEW design Tim came up with is nothing short of a 10 on a scale of 1 - 10. We now have a data base that provides information and documents our 1981 Corvette.

Grizz,
It's good to see you here, and getting out with your '81. To my very dear friend, I wish you only the best and enjoy the moment. Keep the faith brother, and keep on keeping on ;)

-tatortot,
You are 100% correct about not all Members are dailed in a the Data Base!! Most the original members back in 2000, I'd estimate probably around 160 or so won't show up in the new Data Base. The present Data Base is taken from our registration form that was included in our last site design update.

I urge all new and current members to check the Data Base for errors, and please correct them. We would like to maintain an "Acurate Record" of RPO's so PLEASE use your "Trim Tag", Window Stickers or Build Sheets to confirm options.

I still have a few items left in the L81 Store. With the end of summer upon us and looking down the road toward the Holidays, I've thought about putting an order in for more items to have available. I'll start a new thread with more about the L81 Store. I encourage all that have placed orders but have not paid, to please get your checks in the mail ;)

Tim is back in College now, Senior Year!!! He is very talented and open to suggestions about the Registry. He has raised the bar for Single Year Registry's, but there is always room for improvements, we understand this and this is YOUR 1981 Corvette Registry ;)...

Go ahead and fill out a new registration form on the site.

This new site is absolutely terrific ! :cool

I am very proud to be member of this registry. I would really like to bring some help, but I am too far to participate to any event, and my english is too poor to write anything a little bit elaborated.

I am now recorded, and I was surprised to discover that my car was already in the database. It may come from some old time when the registry was young... ;)

I have checked "my" RPO's, and they are not as acurate as Bud would like them to be. How can I correct this ?

By the way, did you know that a few turbo Vettes were built in 1981 ? We have one here, in France. :_rock

With the new L81VetteRegistry design came a few changes ;)

If you were using the L81VetteRegistry Logo as part of your signature, OR if you would like to use it, here is the new text for the Logo:
http://www.l81vetteregistry.com/images/l81banner.jpg remember to use the brackets and the img infront of this text and the brackets and /img at the end of the text (Brackets are [ ] ) with img and /img inside these brackets..
PHP:

To make the image a hotlink to the Registry:
PHP:

Forgive me, but why is this aimed at just the '81 L-82 ? The engine option was also avalible in other years. Curious,
Chiller

Hi Chiller,

The 1981 Corvette only came with one engine, the L81 @ 190 hp. There were no other options engine wise, and the L81 was only used in 1981.. It can be compared to the L48, but it's not.

The 1982 came with one engine only too. If memory serves me correctly here it was called the L83 while previous to 1981 engine options varied back to 1955, I believe the 53 & 54 were "Blue Flame 6 cylinders" (F54YG); the 1955 had a few, VERY FEW 6 cylinders, the rest all had a small block V-8 (265 cid)..

I hope this clears it up a bit, also at the top of the page is a Link "TECH CENTER" you can go there then into the MODEL CENTER and look through more information about each production year run..

New Site

The new pages look great, I just got my power back on from Hurricane Frances, after a week. I had my '81 tucked away in the garage and it was safe,.My fence and trees did not fare so well but i feel very lucky since i had no damage to the house. Can't wait to get the '81 out on the road again. Thanks Frank

Frank,

That's great news! I hope all our other members down your way faired as good too.

We have a LOT of GREAT members here at the Registry, and I believe Tim has made us all very proud ;)
