Notice the size of those rear tires. They look a little familiar. ;)

And from AutoSpies.com:

Replied to the thread JB added this link to but will add some info here.

- First notice is the rear tires. They look HUGE back there.

- Fender flares add a nice muscular look to the car. Looks mean as hell.

- The next thing I noticed is that the front grill appears to be taller than in the C6 offering a more agressive look.

- Do the holes in front of the rear wheels look like brake scoops to you as well?

- Brake scoops in the sides of the open grill for front tires?

- Hard to make out if there is a hood scoop with the camo on...

- Roof looks to be fixed but hard to tell from this angle.

- Carbon fiber used in headlight area? Not body color.

- Twin spoke design of wheels.

These observations are for the GM Insider link only. The first picture in Rob's post shows same wheels and red calipers but offers little detail due to picture quality.

Let's here other's thoughts. From what I see here I really like it. Can't wait until January for them to let this cat out of the bag. :D

Wow!!!!!!!!

:eek :eek FINALLY, a decent spy photo that some details can be seen in! Looks like wider body work of about 4-5 inches in the rear (total addition), both front and rear, with the rear brake cooling ducts now incorportated into that body work rather than an external scoop a' la C5 ZO6. Definately looks like it has a hood scoop at the very front of the hood as well. Rather large bulge up the center of the hood instead of the two smaller ones on the C5 and C6. Could this mean we not only get a 7 liter engine, but a blower/supercharger as well? Or a factory ram air system perhaps. Inside of the headlights is black instead of body colored...hmmm carbon fiber perhaps?! Also it appears to have a much larger opening up front as compared to a C6. Very nice package! What remains is the roof line... wonder if the final version will have a fixed roof or targa???

I’m sure you already know that the Z51 package already has air ducts to each brake. They pick it up from the underside on the back and in front of the air dam in the front. The spy picture looks like they added it to the rear quarter so it will sell cars and may not be functional. Not sure why they would change the quarter skin and not make it functional though.

They are showing the ten spoke wheels will be offered in more than one color in one of their brochures.

This looks SO much better than the standard C6---it appears to me that someone got the picture that the car needed to look altogether much more mean and aggressive.

I like those infamous numbers on the fender. Wonder why they aren't where they should be...on the hood!

I think that photo is a teaser and is not in fact the real ZO6. It's simply a test mule for components. I think that the ZO6 will be a more radical departure like the FRC ZO6. The spy photo shows a car that is virtually the same as the base coupe with a few tweaks. Dave Hill said that your grandmother could tell the difference. Most people could not tell the difference between the base coupe and the spy photos. Those pictures are simply to get our blood boiling for the real deal.

The front fenders ARE carbon fiber. They weigh 8 pounds.

The roof is part of the structure and is BOLTED ON but not designed for quick take off.
Mike

PS Not sure about the adjustable pedals on the car so you may have to put 2 x 4 blocks on the pedals off your trade-in Louie.

Mike,
Some interesting information for sure... just how did you come about it!!!???:D

Carbon fiber fenders sound like a cool idea...

Cant wait!

Welll this link is quite interesting.... SRT FORUM has a color pic of a C6 ZO6. I followed the original ling to the ZO6 Forum... The picture has been deleted by request of a certain General.
I do like that picture!! I think the new zo6 is going to be a pretty sharp lookin car.

I read through most of that thread.....and I'm glad we show a little more respect to other cars than them guys at that SRT forum show to other cars besides their own. If it's not their own car then it's a piece of crap and worth nothing. I haven't seen anybody here at the CAC disrespect other cars like that!!

I agree! Let's get the 427 on the hood where it belongs...maybe in smaller numbers?:w

Z06 Aluminum Frame

I heard a very good rumor from a friend in the BG plant that the new Z06 has an aluminum hydroformed frame..... Man, imagine what that will do for reducing weight and adding the 500hp? :cool

I think the C6 already takes too many styling cues from the Viper... adding the air intake at the front of the hood isn't helping any. Chevy can't think on their own anymore?

Playing Devil's Advocate here.....you might as well say the same thing about Ferrari. ;)

And the Camaro Z28 SS:

So what came first: the chicken or the egg? ;)

or look at it from the performance perspective. There are more and less efficient designs so as cars advance it would make sense that they start to resemble each other. Especially with engineers looking to eek out performance where ever they can.

Exactly Rob. I can't believe the number of people thinking the scoop was borrowed from a Neon or even the Viper. GM has been doing scoop and Ram Air for years on performance cars. About time it was done on the Vette. It's a shame that the Corvette engineers can't incorporate attributes of past Corvettes into a design and have everything think those same attributes were borrowed from a car that's out today that may look similar.
