I would have thought that GM would have at least matched the Vipers 550HP. Of course the Vette is lighter but still I think 550 would have been the target number.

The 2005 Dodge Viper SRT comes with 500hp...not 550. So, if the reported output of the C6 Z06 is true, then GM did match the Viper.

Playing Devil's Advocate here.....you might as well say the same thing about Ferrari.

on the ferrari, I will give you some likeness... the camaro though, looks vastly different.

The Viper has the same hood lines, and front quarter lines... and the scoop at the front of the hood (not in the middle or further back like on the SS) that flows into the hood lines.

I was just talking with a dealer today and he may have been making things up be here is what he said:

510 hp (which we've all heard before 500 underrated)
Magniesum cradle for the engine??? dunno what he meant here
Alluminum frame (yea we knew that)
But heres the big thing. He said 0-60 in just over 3 seconds. I gave him a quizical look and asked if he meant just under 4 but he said no, and that at the most it would not break 3.5secs. With the power already set I can only imagine that IF this is true, that GM must have done well to hit its target weight.
