I was very dissapointed when I read the letters to the editor, regarding the new C6 in the latest MotorTrend issue. Did anyone happen to see this? Some quack out in L.A. tried to say that he was a "Corvette guy" and how horrible the new C6 is, so he is going to turn in his Vette when the lease is up for a Mustang? When I read that, I was like, "this is no Corvette guy." No real Corvette guy would ever utter those words in succession, name and address especially in a magazine with a large circulation as Motortrends with a chance of it being printed. ;LOL

I didn't think real Corvette guys would lease Corvettes? :L

I know a lot of Corvette guys "in real life" who are severly disappointed in the C6, tremendous engineering and performance notwithstanding. Look at it this way, at least the guy in that letter didn't say he was going for an import. Were he waiting for the 2006 Cobra, I'd say it's a fairly tough call between a C6 and the 500hp Cobra.

Still, I can't see someone that disappointed in the C6.

i wouldn't say there would be ANY tough call between a new mustang and a corvette. If you are a true corvette fan, it would be a hands down victory... :D

I was talking more from the perspective of someone who might not be as biased. I'm almost equally fanatical about both cars, and given the choice between a base C6 and the 2006 Cobra, I'd seriously have a hard time choosing.

I don't understand how he could be disappointed with the car before they've even been released. There are some of us in this forum who weren't fond of C5's when they first came out. I think driving one will convert him. :D

Edmond, I thought exactly the same thing about leasing the Corvette. I figured if I said something about it, I may offend someone here in the CAC that may have a lease. Great minds think alike! :)

Todd,

We sure do! :D

You know, I could care less what that idiot thinks. I love the C6 design and look. Why should it matter if one dude says he hates it? That's not a slam on me...he just doesn't like the car. In life, I am starting to learn to care less and less what other people think, and just do what I think is right, and what works for me.

screw 'em.

I agree. That wasn't the only hate letter that was printed. When it comes to Vettes, there seems to be people out there that just want to slam it, for reasons beyond logic. Some people will do, and say anything just make themselves feel better. There was a thread I started awhile back about why people hate Corvettes. I may start another one to see if opinions have changed, or it's the same ole' thang.

People said the same thing when the C5 came out.

People said the same thing when the C4 came out.

People said the same thing when the C3 came out.

Those same people probably bought or leased one of those cars later.

Only with the C3, they were right! :upthumbs

Joke, really!!!! well, sorta :D No offense meant for those loyal to C3. That is just my opinion

I would say the same thing about the C-4, I would rather have a nice Camaro but that is just my opinion.I geuss some people liked the C-4's they sold a ton of them.

It's a good thing that there are different Corvettes for people with different tastes. I liked the C4. I think that a lot of it has to do with what we saw as teenagers. I would bet that there is a correlation between age and preferred Corvette generations.

When the C5 came out, I liked some parts, but not others. I thought it had too large a back end. I grew to like the C5 enough that I have owned 2 of them. It is interesting to see what the designers did to make the C6 butt look smaller. The black section by the tailpipes and the piece up near the brake light make the behind look a little smaller than it is.

But not the C2................................................. :D
There were probably some that did but back then, I was too young to notice or care. ;)

Sometimes it makes me think there is some media bias regarding the Corvette. If it isn't a Toyota, BMW or some other foreign car, then it isn't good enough, according to these car magazines. The Toyota Camary for example, makes me wonder why that after thought of an undersized exhaust pipe hanging down hasn't been torn off by now, and left on the highway for our Vette to run over. Everyone take notice next time you see a newer Camary, how that thing is hanging. :eek
